The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success acknowledges Indigenous peoples across Australia as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the nation’s campuses are situated. With a history spanning more than 60,000 years as the original educators, Indigenous peoples hold a unique place in our nation. We recognise the importance of their knowledge and culture, and reflect the principles of participation, equity, and cultural respect in our work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future, and consider it an honour to learn from our Indigenous colleagues, partners, and friends.

We are very pleased to announce that the NCSEHE will be leading the development of a National Regional University Centres Network, alongside Geraldton Universities Centre (GUC) and the Country Universities Centre (CUC). The Network is being funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment.

The Network will support a “community of practice” amongst all Regional University Centres (RUCs) in Australia, facilitating collaboration and ensuring Network activities are informed by the needs of RUC staff and stakeholders.

The initial establishment of the Network will include:

  • forming a RUC Network Advisory Committee with State representation
  • developing a RUC Network website for the RUCs and stakeholders
  • providing a point of contact/liaison for Centres to access advice and support
  • providing training and developing support materials.

The first Network meeting will be on 3 June, followed immediately by an Advisory Committee meeting. We look forward to keeping you up to date with the activities of the RUC Network and ensuring that the important work of the RUCs goes from strength to strength.
