The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success acknowledges Indigenous peoples across Australia as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the nation’s campuses are situated. With a history spanning more than 60,000 years as the original educators, Indigenous peoples hold a unique place in our nation. We recognise the importance of their knowledge and culture, and reflect the principles of participation, equity, and cultural respect in our work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future, and consider it an honour to learn from our Indigenous colleagues, partners, and friends.

Find answers through trials

Running trials will allow you to test the effectiveness of your programs. They often start with a simple question as in these examples:

Does a particular school outreach program raise aspirations for regional and remote students to go to university?

Does a university’s enabling course designed specifically for First Nation students reduce subsequent first-year attrition rates for its participants?

Does a first-year unit, created using specific Universal Design for Learning principles, improve pass rates for neurodiverse students?

We fund both small and large-scale trials that are either Sector-led or T&E-led:

  • Small-scale trials are designed for projects between $75,000 and $250,000 and can be either single or multi-institutional projects.
  • Large-scale trials are designed for projects up to $400,000 and involve multiple organisations.
  • A sector-led trial is one where all the expertise required to undertake the trial (e.g. personnel, methodology, protocols) are provided by the organisation/s proposing the trial.
  • A T&E-led trial is one where ACSES staff, working with organisations, design and undertake the trial in partnership with relevant organisations.

Applications for funding can be made at any time, by submitting an Expression of Interest.

Applications will close once all funding has been allocated to trials.

If you are interested in running a trial with our support, the documents below will assist you.
