The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success acknowledges Indigenous peoples across Australia as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the nation’s campuses are situated. With a history spanning more than 60,000 years as the original educators, Indigenous peoples hold a unique place in our nation. We recognise the importance of their knowledge and culture, and reflect the principles of participation, equity, and cultural respect in our work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future, and consider it an honour to learn from our Indigenous colleagues, partners, and friends.

The Australian Federal Government, under the Higher Education Disability Support Program, is funding the maintenance of the Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training (ADCET) website. The site, currently the responsibility of the University of Tasmania, supports the work of disability practitioners and teachers, and promotes inclusive practices for people with disability or ongoing medical conditions.

“Over 1 in 20 students has a disability that impacts on their study. Significant progress has been made in recent years to ‘level the playing field’ and reduce discrimination however for students with disability completion rates and employment outcomes are still significantly lower than for their peers.”
