The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success acknowledges Indigenous peoples across Australia as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the nation’s campuses are situated. With a history spanning more than 60,000 years as the original educators, Indigenous peoples hold a unique place in our nation. We recognise the importance of their knowledge and culture, and reflect the principles of participation, equity, and cultural respect in our work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future, and consider it an honour to learn from our Indigenous colleagues, partners, and friends.

The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success acknowledges the passing of Dr Linley (Lin) Martin AO, whose lifelong commitment to improving student equity has shaped Australian higher education for more than four decades.

Dr Martin’s work, including the development of the Martin Indicators—still central to how we understand access, participation, success and retention for students from equity groups—has had a profound and enduring influence on policy, practice, and the national conversation around equity. Her leadership, insight, and advocacy helped transform opportunities for countless students, and she inspired many across the sector through her unwavering belief in the power of education.

We extend our sincere condolences to Dr Martin’s family, friends, and colleagues, and honour her remarkable legacy to student equity in Australia.
