The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success acknowledges Indigenous peoples across Australia as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the nation’s campuses are situated. With a history spanning more than 60,000 years as the original educators, Indigenous peoples hold a unique place in our nation. We recognise the importance of their knowledge and culture, and reflect the principles of participation, equity, and cultural respect in our work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future, and consider it an honour to learn from our Indigenous colleagues, partners, and friends.

Event information

Interim report launch for the Australian Research Council Discovery Project, Vocational institutions, undergraduate degrees.

Degrees of difference — Examining, the scope, provision and equity effects of degrees in vocational institutions.

This event launches the interim findings of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery project Vocational institutions, Undergraduate degrees and commences a consultation process to inform the final stages of the project.

At the heart of this ARC Discovery project is the desire to understand what new tertiary qualifications are being offered by Australia’s TAFE institutions through the recent expansion of higher education in traditionally vocational institutions and whether these offerings drive innovation and increase the participation of all equity groups in higher education. And what, if anything, is distinctive about these higher education offerings in vocational institutions?

There will be an expert panel discussing the distinctiveness of higher education in TAFE institutes and a discussion about the importance of provision in different providers.
