Pulteney Street, Queen Elizabeth Park, Taree, NSW
As a response to COVID style restrictions and a genuine desire to involve community, the 2022 Lower North Coast Careers Expo will move beyond the school environment to become CareerQuip.
The event will take place in and around Taree’s “riverstage” precinct, Queen Elizabeth Park, Taree University Campus and their new location, the old Mid Coast Council building on the corner of River and Pulteney Street.
The upscaling of the event allows all community members, not just high school students, access to professional careers information or to seek out new opportunities in skills shortage areas from a plethora of providers. The all-day event is timed to assist as many people as possible to access the expo.
The expo will attract students from Kempsey, Port Macquarie and the Hastings, Manning Valley and Great Lakes / Barrington schools. It is expected that over 2000 students will attend. There is a high level of commitment of local careers advisers, both private and public to support the event.
Exhibitors will include National Association of Prospective Student Advisers members such as universities, private and vocational colleges and student support services. These will be enhanced by Australian Defence Forces recruitment, TAFE, NSW Police and employer organisations. Local and regional skills shortage employers, plus trades and vocations are also expected to have a highly visible presence, with interactive and static displays.
