The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success acknowledges Indigenous peoples across Australia as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the nation’s campuses are situated. With a history spanning more than 60,000 years as the original educators, Indigenous peoples hold a unique place in our nation. We recognise the importance of their knowledge and culture, and reflect the principles of participation, equity, and cultural respect in our work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future, and consider it an honour to learn from our Indigenous colleagues, partners, and friends.

The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success congratulates Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian Labor Party on their re-election.

We look forward to continuing our strong working relationship with the Albanese Government and engaging with the leadership of the education portfolio as it progresses its reform agenda—building on our shared commitment to improving access, participation, and outcomes for underrepresented students in higher education.

As Australia’s national What Works Centre for student equity, ACSES supports the delivery of evidence-based policy through robust research, data, and trials that directly inform government, universities, and communities.

ACSES Executive Director Professor Shamit Saggar said the Centre looked forward to the Government’s ongoing support for student equity, including its commitment to recommendations from the Australian Universities Accord and the expansion of evidence-based equity-related programs.

“We welcome the the return of the Government and the opportunity to continue supporting the delivery of transformative reforms in student equity,” Professor Saggar said.

“Equity in higher education is not just a moral imperative—it is essential to Australia’s future prosperity. ACSES is committed to supporting this agenda with research that leads to real-world impact.”
